Baby Bonnet
05/22/10 — Well, that was quick! I slightly altered the pattern, though, because that lace pattern was not working for me. Here’s what I did:
1). Cast on 63 sts on smaller needles. Worked 1×1 rib for 6 rows. 2). Switched to larger needles. Knit 31 sts, k2tog, k 31. Purled one row. 3). Worked new lace pattern:
k3, *k1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1; repeat from * until 3 sts remain, k3 k1, p until 1 st remains, k1 k3, *k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk; repeat from * until 3 sts remain, k3 k1, p until 1 st remains, k1 k3, *k1, ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k1; repeat from * until 3 sts remain, k3 k1, p until 1 st remains, k1
4). Worked in St st until piece was 4.5” from CO edge, ending in purl row. Increased 1 st toward center of bonnet. Switched to DPNs, worked crown shaping in the round.
I made 2 I-cord ties (3 sts wide, 9.5-10” long) and attached them to the front corners of the ribbing. Such a cute hat! :)
