05/19/10 — Now that it’s finished & soaking in the woolwash, I’m afraid it will stretch way too much. Because I CO 116 sts (instead of 78 sts), the ribbing will not be tight enough :\ We’ll see, I guess! ETA: Oh, yeahhh… That looks way too big. I may have to find a very large-headed lady who wants a black beret because this will not fit my friend. Now I have to knit another hat. (I will choose a different pattern… ‘cause I can’t knit the same thing twice. It hurts my soul.) Later: Huge. Huge huge huge huge. I threw the beret in the dryer to see if it would shrink. It did… but the ribbing is still loose. That’s my fault >< It’s better than it was earlier today but it’s still loose. I hope my friend has a bigger head than I do ^^
05/18/10 — Worked in lace pattern until the hat measured 6.5” from CO edge. Commence decreasing!
05/15/10 — Cast on 116 sts on US size 6 needles. During inc rnd, I switched to size 9 needles, inc 1 (to make 117 sts), and I’m going from there. (I hate wrangling with small number of sts on circs.)
