12/27/10 — FINISHED! I picked up 112 sts around the armholes, knit 6 rnds of 2×2 rib, 1 plain knit rnd, and did a knit bind off. I did it to match the neck… but that means that the armholes are all loosey goosey now, too. But it’s not bad! I hope to wear it to work tomorrow so we’ll see how it wears.
11/06/10 — Sealed up the underarms, finally.
10/24/10 — So. Finally working on this thing again. I picked up 208 sts around the neckline, worked 2 rows of 2×2 ribbing, then 6 rows of 2×2 ribbing with the decreases in the center (for the V-neck shaping), then 1 row of plain knit, then worked the knit BO. I think I should have done a tighter BO but whatever! The ribbing may still change as I haven’t done the armholes yet.
08/16/10 — Finished the back and used the 3-needle BO to graft the shoulders together! My numbers weren’t lining up with the pattern instructions to BO the middle 28 sts of the back and work on the remaining 12 × 2 sts (for shoulder straps) so I put the middle 32 sts on waste yarn and worked the remaining 16 × 2 sts (decreasing by 1 every other row four times to get down to 12 on each side). I tried it on and it seems to be a great fit! It’s soaking now and will be blocked later. All that’s left is the ribbing et voila! I have a new sweater vest in time for my new job :D
08/14/10 — Front right piece is complete, now I’m working on the back piece. Hoping to have this finished by Tuesday’s knitting club meeting!
08/13/10 — Finished one front piece. All that’s left is the front right piece and the remainder of the back. It should be done in a few days.
08/10/10 — Worked up to the 3rd increase. The piece measures 11” long.
08/09/10 — Just worked the last decrease round. The piece is 7.25” long. I then knit 2 inches of St st and I’ll begin the increases tomorrow.
08/08/10 — Went out and bought yarn specifically to make myself a vest. (I want a gray vest to wear with slacks to work.) Worked 2×2 rib for 2 inches then worked in St st for a few rounds. I got as far as 3.75” before I decided that my hands needed a rest. I last worked a decrease row (2nd one).
