Simple pattern:

Using DK weight yarn and size US 5 needles, cast on 31 stitches using the long-tail cast on method.
Slip 1 stitch purlwise, *knit 1, purl 1.* Repeat between ** to the end of the row.
Repeat previous row until the desired length is reached.
Use a stretchy bind off method to cast off all stitches.
