07/21/10 — Total number of sts at BO: 22 edge sts + 24 repeats of 14-st pattern repeat (336) + 21 edge sts = 379 sts. Whew! It’s soaking now and I’ll be blocking it tonight. (FREE AT LAST!) 17g left of the third ball and I still have 2 more balls (440yds). ETA: It’s blocking now (with points). Pinned out, it measures 64” across and 22” down. Let’s see if it holds its shape once it’s dry.

07/20/10 — I switched to a 60” cable because the 36” one was not long enough: the shawl was bunching up and making the needles heavy. Only 8 rows left! (Each row takes about 30 minutes now, though… So that’s about 4 hours? Oy.)

07/11/10 — Up to the fifth repeat of chart A. It’s slow going ‘cause it’s been so god danged hot lately >_< I’m in no mood to knit when it’s 95°F with 65% humidity. ETA: Started ball #3 toward the end of row 11 of the fifth repeat of chart A.

06/27/10 — Third repeat of chart A completed. It looks too small so I’ll be doing at least one more repeat…

06/26/10 — Spent some time last night and today and knit one more repeat of chart A. I’ll definitely do at least one more repeat — maybe two more — before moving on to chart B.

06/23/10 — Finished chart A! That was relatively painless. It’s flying off the needles! For some reason, I thought this would be harder. I thought shawls were more complicated than this *shrugs*

06/22/10 — I took this shawl with me when I went to meet Val for our makeshift knitting group(!) and started the first repeat of chart A. I made a couple of mistakes that I was able to salvage while still engaging in conversation. I got to row 7 of the chart before I packed my stuff.

06/21/10 — Worked to 201 sts in the stockinette section (14 repeats). I don’t know whether to start the lace pattern or do two more repeats (16 total, 229 sts). My mother wants a large shawl (to cover her back and arms), not a neckerchief :\

06/20/10 — My first shawl! I’m knitting it out of a wool/silk blend in 91°F weather. But I’m sitting still and listening to The Moth so it’s all good :D
