Now

This is a now page—a periodic snapshot of what I’m up to. It was last updated in March 2026.

Work

Most of my professional energy right now is going toward figuring out how to support librarians who write code. That means documentation—a style guide aimed at CUNY librarians who program—and working with the university’s DevSecOps team to build infrastructure that brings some consistency to what librarian-programmers are already doing. This is happening across two overlapping efforts: the Alma Extensibility Task Force and the Library Agentic AI Peer Mentoring Program, which is in full swing this spring.

Life

We had some unseasonably warm days earlier this month and I took full advantage: I biked ~20 miles a day for two glorious days in the mid-20s°C.

I’ve been deep in a rabbit hole of bike touring videos lately—specifically families who tour by bike. It looks like a more interesting way to travel than backpacking, and frankly more my speed. I’m not ready to commit to anything yet but the idea is taking up a lot of mental real estate.

We’re also considering getting rid of our car. My partner stepped back from work a few years ago to focus on the house and parenting full time, which has been wonderful—but we didn’t anticipate private school tuition, and the budget is tighter than we’d planned. The car is an obvious candidate. It’s a big decision and we’re still mulling it over.

Lucy, my cat, will be 12 this summer. She’s gained some weight and her energy is lower than it used to be, which is normal for a cat her age but she still needs exercise for both physical and mental health. I’m trying to be better about playing with her, which mostly means I need to be better about not being glued to a device all evening.

Watching

I rewatch TV series to wind down or have on in the background. Most recently I rewatched Schitt’s Creek; currently working through Young Sheldon again. With my partner, I’ve been enjoying Jet Lag and Abolish Everything on Nebula. The most recent movie I watched was Hoppers—saw it in the theater with my son and we both enjoyed it.

Listening

To motivate myself to work out, I pick a book or podcast to listen to while I row and lift weights. Right now it’s Emily Henry’s Funny Story. I’m not finding it particularly gripping, but it’s something to do.

I also recently read about The Paradox, a punk band, and have had their album on repeat.

Reading

I started reading The Witches by Roald Dahl with my son at bedtime. We got 1.5 chapters in before he asked me to stop—it was scaring him.

Knitting

I recently finished a garter stitch corner-to-corner blanket that took over two months to complete and I am thoroughly burned out. I’m supposed to be knitting a sweater for my partner but it’s on hold until I can give it the attention it deserves.
