The Huntress

I’m not usually a historical fiction reader, but I picked up The Huntress on a whim while donating plasma and ended up loving it. The novel follows two intertwined threads: former war correspondent Ian Graham hunting down a Nazi war criminal known as the Huntress after World War II, aided by his partner Anton “Tony” Rodomovsky as well as Nina Markova, a former Soviet bomber pilot from the all-female Night Witches squadron, and, in postwar Boston, teenage photographer Jordan McBride growing suspicious of her father’s new Austrian wife.
The book moves between timelines and points of view without ever losing momentum, and the way the separate storylines gradually converge kept me hooked. What stood out most was Quinn’s focus on lesser-known women’s roles in the war, particularly the Night Witches. The characters felt genuinely alive to me, flaws and all, which is a big part of why this ended up being one of my favorite reads in a while.
